A person who spiked sweets with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two children both between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight children and one adult became sick at the location in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
The man conducted a "candy game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She explained the man had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative added: "This year his family member had concerns about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said items including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson notified the authorities about his concerns.
She stated the defendant proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six children that evening - that Saturday - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The prosecutor stated the minors were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement a second time.
She stated Ruben then played the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
